  VAN HEUSEN'S MEN'S FASHION WEEK

With the top models in the country showing off designs by the likes of J.J. Valya, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rina Dhaka, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani and Manoviraj Khosla, the Van Heusen’s Men’s Fashion Week lived up to its billing as India’s fashion event of the year. With the stated aim of dedicating a week’s worth of fashion to men at, ‘The Grand’ in Delhi, Van Heusen was certainly optimistic about the potential of both designer and ready-to-wear collections specifically targeting design-conscious men, and was more than rewarded with the attention it garnered.

PHASE 1 set up the ‘Kingfisher Blue’ and ‘Whyte and Mackay’ Lounge Bar that was the watering hole of choice for celebrities and designers alike at the Van Heusen’s Men’s Fashion Week. It offered cutting edge facilities such as a Wi-fi zone, gaming consoles, an accessory stall that gave guests a sneak preview of the designs later showcased on the ramp, and flare bartenders and special cocktails.

TED INDIA ‘09

TED has developed a world-wide reputation since its inception in 1990 for its annual, invitation-only conference devoted to ideas worth spreading across the world. Its lectures, known as TED Talks, having developed a cult following over the years, originally focused on technology, entertainment and design, but have now expanded in scope to cover a broad set of topics including science, arts, politics, education, culture, business, global issues and development. The sheer variety of featured speakers at TED India 2009, including Shashi Tharoor, Pranav Mistry and Hans Rosling, and performances by the likes of Mallika Sarabhai and Sivamani, and the weight of the subjects discussed at the event, held between the 4th and 7th of November at the Infosys campus in Mysore, was enough to draw worldwide attention to the event.

PHASE 1 organised the networking dinners on all three days as well as the Gala Welcome Party at the Royal Orchid Hotel, Brindavan Gardens, and related events at the Lalit Mahal Palace and the Infosys campus’ amphitheatre.

OCTOBERFEST 2009

The Great Indian October Fest framed on the lines of the internationally renowned German Oktoberfest, encapsulates the essence of the original international festival blended with a distinctively Indian flavour. The charm of the event lies in having fun with friends and family; experiencing non stop live music performances, being spellbound by the great art showcased, playing games, and indulging in a festooned flea market containing funky memorabilia. This year, guests were additionally treated to a showcase of a unique range of automobiles from past and present and a range of classic movies.

Providing Bangalore’s resident seasonally-homesick Germans with cause to cheer, the 9th edition of the Bangalore Oktoberfest was held on the 31st of October this year at the Taj Residency by PHASE 1. Genuine Oktoberfest food, and Oktoberfest music played by an original Bavarian band were highlights, along with the copious quantities of Kingfisher beer and special local brews made available to the invitees.

COCA-COLA CAMPAIGN FOR OPEN HAPPINESS WITH SUPERSTAR VIJAY

The Coca-Cola campaign for Open Happiness featured a spectacular entry by brand ambassador actor Vijay appearing from behind a screen that displayed his well-known Coca-Cola advert to meet and greet employees, retailers and consumers who converged on Chennai from across Tamil Nadu for the event. Guests took advantage of the opportunity to take Polaroid photographs alongside their hero that was presented to them immediately afterward.

DECCAN CHARGERS BOOK LAUNCH

The launch of the two books, ‘Not Just Cricket’ and ‘Beyond Runs and Cricket’ describing the odyssey of The Deccan Chargers in South Africa, culminating with their win in the 2nd edition of the IPL, was an event full of sporting glamour. Presided over by the reigning international women’s badminton champion, Saina Nehwal, the Deccan Chargers also announced the donation of Rs. 25 lakhs at the event to ‘Prajwala’, an N.G.O that rehabilitates victims of human trafficking through vocational training and education.

NAMMA BENGALURU AWARDS

A press launch was held to introduce the Namma Bengaluru Awards - initiated by M.P. and Convenor of ABIDe, Mr. Rajeev Chandrashekhar - to honour all the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes to make Bengaluru a city we all can be proud of. Members of the jury were drawn from across such categories as government bodies, multi-national companies based in the city, and NGOs and the eventual awardees will similarly comprise local government officials and private citizens involved in NGOs, schools, RWAs, companies and other organisations. The awards ceremony is to be held on the  23rd January this year and will be organized by PHASE 1 and the Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka will be present on the dais.

KARNATAKA PREMIER LEAGUE



The maiden Karnataka Premier League proved that a state cricket event could be a commercially viable proposition. PHASE 1 was critically involved right from the planning stages and the Grand Opening Ceremony and the quality of all the above-the-line collaterals such as the hoardings and billboards used, stands testimony to the success of the tournament. The special anthem created for the event was a winner with fans and the performance garnered much attention. The celebrities and special guests in the stands for some of the matches were special invitees of PHASE 1, and the fireworks at the Closing Ceremony provided a fitting finale.

BOSCH EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The entry of Stephen Hartung, President of Bosch’s Power Tools Division, was the highlight of the evening when he arrived on stage in a Tata Nano – the stunt had to be accommodated for on a reinforced stage set. The Bosch Excellence Awards 2009 was a platform for Bosch India to showcase their best performing business partners from around the country in front of a large audience that comprised a representation of their various local divisions. Entertainers at the event included the versatile performer, Rodney, from Mumbai.

EMERSON CUP

The Emerson Cup 2009 design competition drew contestants from across disciplines: consultants, estate developers, architects, institutional engineers and students from India and South East Asia. The contest was held at HICC, Hyderabad – a cutting-edge convention centre that was perfect for the needs of the event, and entertainment acts included a performance by the internationally renowned salsa dance duo of Richard and Sneha from the famous Lourd Vijay Dance School. PHASE 1 set up the infrastructure for the event and was highly praised by the organizers for its efforts in making the Emerson Cup a massive success.
